I’m not an Opel fan, and I’m not sure who is; but, one exciting Opel model is the GT, produced from 2006 through 2009. German racing and clothing outfit Mädchen & Motoren celebratet the GT by going to work on a 2008 Opel GT and turning it into a muscled-up track racer. I’d love to park this Opel in my garage, that’s for sure!
The tuner stripped any extra fittings and widened both sides by 80mm (3.15 inches); then, the Opel was fitted with a fiberglass hardtop and light fenders, enablign it to weigh just 1,150kg or 2,535 pounds. But the most exciting modification is the replacement of the 2.0-liter turbocharged four engine with a Corvette-sourced 6.2-liter V8 – also modified – which now develops 523hp (530PS), mated to a TR-6060 gearbox from a Corvette ZR1.
Other upgrades worth mentioning are the high-performance brakes, sourced from a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a KW sports suspension, ATS 18-inch alloys wrapped in 295/30 tires, a Racelogic traction control, a welded FIA-safety cell and Recaro racing seats. This Opel is off the hook, so I might reconsider; what do you think?
