Anyone remember Zender? The German tuner went bust in 2008 but now they are back in action with a comprehensive kit for the Fiat 500 Abarth – revealed at the IAA: the Abarth 500 Corsa Stradale.
Presented as a concept car, the Corsa Stradale has a very aggressive body kit and rides on 18-inch alloys shod in Pirelli P Zero Black performance tires measuring 215/35 ZR 18. It’s like a really sexy lady wearing extremely high heels; gotta love it! Moreover, there are lowered adjustable sports suspension and a customized interior cabin with stainless steel pedals, illuminated door sill strips and custom sport seats – all part of the styling package.
But don’t forget to check out the engine bay, where the 4-cylinder 1.6-liter turbocharged engine has been fiddled with to put an impressive 236 bhp (176 kW) and 247 lb-ft (335 Nm) of torque. The added power is possible due to a larger turbocharger, tweaked the fuel injection with a bigger fuel pressure regulator and by updating the engine management.
Amongst the changes Zender included the modified camshafts and pistons along with a stainless steel exhaust which have helped Zender shave off 0.7s from the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time; so, now the car can run the sprint in 6.5 seconds before topping out at 144 mph (232 km/h). That’s a list of impressive numbers for this tiny, sexy vehicle!
