Zhongsheng Group Holdings Ltd. have recently acquired the German tuning brand Carlsson Autotechnik GmbH, a company well known for refining cars from Mercedes-Benz. Following the process, Carlsson have announced the Carlsson C25 Super GT limited edition sportscar, which will only be produced for China.
The car is actually a strongly redesigned SL-Class Mercedes, with a weight that’s been reduced by around 180 kg (397 lbs) just because of the extensive use of carbon fiber for its body. The car’s rear and front lights have also undergone a few changes, as well as the rear and rear side windows.
Carlsson have added their C-Tronic Suspension chassis easily adjustable via iPhone and a composite break system. The performance, above all, has suffered drastic changes, now delivering a meager 450 HP (331 kW), out of a Carlsson-signed V8. We can’t actually realize why they’ve discarded the SL600 6.0-liter biturbo engine of the original car, which used to deliver a whopping 753 HP (554 kW).
Calsson’s CEO and engineer Mark Schuster declared: “We wanted to develop a vehicle that is highly exclusive on the one hand, and on the other hand can be also used for the daily commute to the office. A Super GT which impresses with its driving comfort in urban traffic as much as its capability to go from 0 to 100 km/h. This concept is especially suited to the Chinese market and we are delighted with the very high level of interest.”
Bearing a price tag of 4,000,000 RMB each, the series will only consist of 8 units. All of them will be embossed with individual serial numbers, and, as far as we know, the C25 LE serial number 1 is going to embark on a journey, by air, to Shanghai. The following 7 cars will be manufactured during the next year in Merzig, at Gut Wiesenhof. Needless to say, all 8 vehicles have already been sold out.
