The lightweight roadster from Mazda is simply enjoyable. The MX-5’s mechanical simplicity and front-engined rear-wheel drive is one of the easiest ways of explaining why it has become the world’s best-selling two-seat convertible sports car. However, it’s not as powerful as most of us would like;the most powerful engine in the range is a 2-liter naturally aspirated MZR inline four-cylinder engine, developing 160 horsepower. So, how about working on that?
Way ahead of you. British performance tuner BBR has developed the Super 200 package. With a price-tag of just £2,195 ($3,682 or €2,745), the package will add an extra 43 hp and 19 lb-ft (25 Nm) of torque. I guess that’s better than nothing, right? The BBR Super 200 upgrade for the Mazda MX-5 (NC) includes a BBR high flow panel air filter, a BBR stainless steel 4 into 1 exhaust manifold, BBR high performance intake and exhaust camshafts and an ECU remap. I guess only a day at the track will prove if this was worth the money!
