Whenever Brabus announces a new project, I feel like a kid on Christmas – ready to get a new toy! The Mercedes E63 AMG is a good looking car with enough power under the hood to please clients, and picky dudes such as myself. But Brabus decided they needed more power to be a ble to smile while driving this Mercedes, so they unveiled their latest 850 6.0 Biturbo.
The Mercedes is looking aggressive, obviously, and it’s been equipped with a carbon fiber body kit which includes a front lip spoiler and a sporty rear diffuser. The model also features 20-inch Monoblock alloys wrapped in Continental, Pirelli or Yokohama tires – your choice. The tuner will also provide a bespoke interior, with everything from premium leather upholstery to carbon fiber trim.
But the most of the efforts were concentrated under the bonnet, where the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine has been bored and now displaces 5.9-liters (5,912 cc); after that, Brabus went on installing a billet crankshaft, forged billet pistons, billet piston rods and optimized cylinder heads. Also worth mentioning are the new intake manifold, upgraded turbochargers, a high-performance exhaust system and an optimized ECU.
The Mercedes will make for one hell of a ride, now that its engine develops 850 PS (625 kW), although it’s been electronically limited to 1,150 Nm (848 lb-ft) of torque. The engine was mated to a modified seven-speed MCT SPEEDSHIFT transmission, enabling the sedan to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds – or 3.1 seconds when equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Depending on tire choice, final drive ratio and the programmable Vmax unit, the top speed of this Mercedes is set somewhere between 300 km/h (186 mph) and 350 km/h (217 mph). Now, that’s just crazy, considering this is a sedan.. sort of.
