SRT Viper by Hennessey

If you ain’t heard of Hennessey by now, you’re hopless; better take up knitting. For the rest of us, we all know that they’re famous for extracting a lot of horsepower from engines by using forced induction. They’ve got a wide range of kits, from light to hardcore, and the Venom 700R pack for the SRT Viper is on the less complex end of the scale – but not less cool, pay attention!

I love the fact that there’s no turbo or supercharger kit fitted on the SRT and that the 8.4-liter V10 beast-of-an-engine produces 705 hp (up from 640hp) via old fashioned tuning techniques. Now, that’s how you notice a truly remarkable tuner. However, there are modifications worth mentioning: high-flow cylinder heads, custom tube headers and 3-inch exhaust, high-flow cat and a K&N performance air filter. Sounds dirty and a lot of fun!

That huge ten-cylinder engine has a lot of potential, which is why torque got a boost too, up from 600 to 695 lb-ft (813 to 942 Nm) – this is an increase you’ll definitely feel, and will be beautifully heard, since there’s no acoustic alteration due to installation of twin turbos. With all that extra power, the Viper goes from 0 to to 60 mph (96km/h) in 3.1 seconds, while the quarter-mile sprint is dispatched in 10.7 seconds. Top speed: 216 mph (345 km/h), if you dare! We all know the Viper is not really the easiest thing in the world to control.

Hennessey will also provide you with some extras: optional carbon fiber parts, lighter wheels, 5-point racing harnesses, adjustable suspension, differential cooler and even a fire extinguisher (hope to God you won’t need that, although I remember those built-in exhausts can and will heat up the car: literally!). So, tell me: are you ready to turn up the heat?!

Feel free to taste the SRT awesomeness in the videos below!
