ABT Sportsline, famous tuners of cars made by Audi and VW, have recently come up with a gorgeous reinterpretation of the 180+ HP Volkswagen Golf 7 GTD. They’ve garnished it with a stunning aerodynamics package and some performance tweaks.
Hans-Jürgen, CEO of ABT, describes: “The objective was to make this compact diesel even sportier. Our ABT Golf VII GTD is a very, very stylish power package.” Yes, it is indeed, thanks to the aggressive aerodynamic elements introduced by ABT – front spoiler and grille, trunk lid attachment and side skirts.
On the looks side, the headlights have been garnished with thin eyelids while new covers have been applied over the mirrors. The rear received a brand new 4-tailpipe exhaust system and rear skirt insert. In addition, this Golf sports 18- or 19-inch wheels, according to customers’ wishes.
As for the engine, ABT has done it properly – the 2.0-liter diesel plant has had its output upped from 181 HP to 207 HP and the torque increased from 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) to 430 Nm (317 lb-ft). The acceleration and top speed have been improved, yeah, but ABT omitted to notify us with any exact numbers. For your info, the stock Golf VII GTD reaches a top speed of 142 mph (229 km/h) and sprints from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.5 seconds.
